History

The Irish-American Crossroads Festival has taken place every March since 2004. March 2015 will mark our 12th Festival. Fall 2010 marked the launch of two related yet distinct projects; the Irish Oral History Archive and The Crossroads Irish-American Writing Contest.

The Irish-American Crossroads Festival grew out of the work and vision of the (late) Daniel P. Cassidy, the co-Director of the (former) Irish Studies Program at New College of California. In 2002, Danny, and his (then) colleague, Margaret McPeake, PhD., joined forces with the Irish Arts Foundation (IAF) to produce the precursor to the Crossroads Festival – known as, the ‘Gates of Gold’ festival.

The Irish-American Crossroads Festival is currently a project fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit arts incubator in San Francisco called, Intersection For The Arts.
